SSIP Unveils Impressive January Statistics

In the construction industry, growth is anticipated, with Glenigan’s projections indicating a 12% and 3% uptick for 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Against this backdrop, Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) recently unveiled promising statistics, highlighting not only its critical role in elevating health and safety standards but also offering insights into productivity within the construction sector for 2024.

As an umbrella organisation comprising over 50 Health and Safety assessment schemes, SSIP remains dedicated to fostering the highest standards of safety across various industries.

SSIP’s industry leading ‘Deem to Satisfy’ (DtS) scheme revolutionises the accreditation process by facilitating cross-member recognition. Suppliers undergo assessment with one member scheme, eliminating the need for duplicate assessments. Since its inception, DtS has saved clients and suppliers hundreds of millions of pounds and countless work hours.

In January 2024, SSIP disclosed an array of impressive statistics reflecting the value of its efficacy the DtS process. The below figures are correct as of 7th February 2024.

Currently, an astounding 83,797 valid certificates are registered on the SSIP Portal, representing over eighty thousand instances where suppliers have demonstrated health and safety competence within their respective domains.

The SSIP Portal serves as a pivotal resource, functioning as a search engine for certified suppliers. During the tendering process, clients rely on the portal to verify a supplier’s declared certifications.

Notably, there were 43,431 searches conducted on the SSIP Portal in January, indicating an encouraging rise in tendering opportunities and programmes of work.

Of paramount significance is the issuance of 3,815 Deem to Satisfy (DtS) certificates in January alone. This translates into substantial time and cost savings for both clients and suppliers. With each DtS certificate issued, the duplication of a health and safety assessment is eradicated, streamlining the procurement process and promoting clarity across the industry.

Commenting on the announcement, SSIP Chair, Eleanor Eaton said:

“It’s extremely encouraging to see the significant activity through the SSIP portal in January alone. The issuance of over 3,500 DtS certificates highlights the need to streamline health and safety assessment processes within the construction and facilities management industry. I’m excited to see these numbers grow over the coming months.”
