Three new organisations have joined Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP), strengthening its mission to eliminate the duplication of occupational health and safety standards in the UK.
Rochdale Borough Council, AUVA Certification Ltd, and Compliance Chain Ltd are the latest additions to the SSIP forum, each bringing unique strengths and enhancing the offering to suppliers and buyers.
Rochdale Borough Council Joins as a Supporter Member
Rochdale Borough Council, representing approximately 220,000 residents, has become a Supporter Member of SSIP. By collaborating with five other local councils and procuring services through STAR Procurement, they incorporate health and safety assessments by SSIP Member Schemes, ensuring the highest standards during the procurement process.
Supporter Members hold a vital role within the SSIP Forum; mandating SSIP approved certification across their supply chain providing suppliers with a streamlined way to tender for services with the authority. SSIP is calling on organisations that stipulate SSIP certification across their supply chain to consider free supporter membership to demonstrate their commitment to reducing costs during the pre-qualification process.
AUVA Certification Ltd Becomes a Certification Body Member
AUVA Certification Ltd, accredited as an Inspection Body by the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) in April 2024, has joined SSIP as a Certification Body Member. This membership is ideal for organisations requiring ISO 45001 certification in conjunction with SSIP certification.
AUVA Certification Ltd offers ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 certificates, providing a comprehensive and accredited platform for procurement processes. Michael Venner, Chief Executive Officer of AUVA Certification Ltd, shared his excitement:
“We are thrilled to announce that Auva has been awarded UKAS Accreditation for SSIP, further strengthening our already robust ISO 45001:2018 service. At Auva, we pride ourselves on being a highly focused and forward-thinking Certification Body, consistently going further in everything we do.
While our primary focus is on the construction sector, we also provide exceptional services to the manufacturing, waste management, retail, and aerospace industries, amongst others.
Our unmatched service is characterised by top notch customer care, swift and efficient processes, and a genuine concern for the success and well-being of our clients and their businesses.”
Compliance Chain Ltd Joins as a Registered Member
Compliance Chain Ltd has joined SSIP as a Registered Member, enhancing their support for subcontractors and main contractors’ compliance with industry standards. Compliance Chain already prequalifies their Subcontractor and Principal Contractor members against health and safety requirements, supporting them to ensure consistency with industry standards
Accredited as an Inspection Body by UKAS in April 2024, Compliance Chain Ltd can now provide SSIP assessments against the following SSIP duty-holders:
- SSIP Approved
- SSIP Approved: Contractor (CDM)
- SSIP Approved: Principal Contractor (CDM)
Adam Cochrane, Head of Operations at Compliance Chain, expressed his enthusiasm:
“We are delighted that we can now offer SSIP assessments to our platform members. Offering SSIP assessments as part of the existing membership package highlights our drive to support members in obtaining the certifications required to work with main contractors and public sector clients, without breaking the bank.
Our clients who use the Supply Chain Management solution can now ensure their supply chain are up to industry standard and achieve value for money by avoiding unnecessary duplication or differing Health & Safety assessment requirements.”
