Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) is pleased to welcome five new organisations as Supporter Members, further strengthening the collective commitment to improving health and safety standards and reducing duplication across UK supply chains.
The new members – Medlock FRB, Plentific, Spacebands, Stockton Drilling Limited and Winchester City Council – represent a diverse cross-section of the construction, property, technology, infrastructure and public sectors. Their decision to join SSIP reflects the growing recognition that consistent, proportionate and independently verified health and safety assessment plays a vital role in procurement and supply chain management.
Supporter Membership helps organisations enhance safety competency within their procurement operations while improving efficiency by using SSIP to eliminate unnecessary duplication in health and safety assessments. Members also become part of the SSIP Forum, contributing to the ongoing development and promotion of best practice across industry.
A Growing Community of Organisations Committed to Higher Standards
Joining SSIP in November 2025, Medlock FRB became a Supporter Member to reinforce its commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety and compliance across its fit-out, refurbishment and construction activities.
A spokesperson for Medlock FRB said:
“We are delighted to join SSIP as a Supporter Member, reinforcing our commitment to high standards of health, safety, and compliance across our area of specialism, fit-out, refurbishment and build. We look forward to being part of a network that champions responsible and compliant businesses.”
Property technology and supply chain management platform Plentific joined SSIP in March 2026. Working with housing providers, local authorities and property owners across the UK, Plentific connects clients with vetted contractors to deliver repairs, maintenance, compliance and capital works programmes.
The organisation views SSIP as an important component of its contractor pre-qualification process, helping to maintain consistency and reduce onboarding friction across its growing contractor network.
A spokesperson for Plentific commented:
“Joining SSIP as a Supporter Member aligns with our commitment to health, safety, and compliance best practice across our marketplace. It helps improve efficiency and consistency in pre-qualification standards and provides additional assurance to our clients that contractors meet robust health and safety requirements.”
Technology innovator Spacebands joined SSIP in January 2026. The company has developed wearable technology designed to protect workers from hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), noise and proximity hazards through continuous exposure monitoring.
Commenting on its decision to join, Spacebands said:
“Becoming an SSIP Supporter Member was a natural step for Spacebands. We’re building technology to proactively reduce risk on site, so aligning with an organisation that standardises and raises health and safety across the industry was important to us.”
Infrastructure specialist Stockton Drilling Limited became a Supporter Member in March 2026. As experts in trenchless technologies, horizontal directional drilling, pipelines and specialist groundworks, the company sees SSIP as an important tool for maintaining high standards across its supplier network.
A spokesperson said:
“We are proud supporters of SSIP. It streamlines our health and safety assurance checks and provides a highly accessible verification process for our suppliers, ensuring that the partners we work with match our own high standards for dependability, safety and lasting value.”
Most recently, Winchester City Council joined SSIP as a Supporter Member in May 2026, recognising the role that SSIP can play in supporting both robust contractor assessment and proportionate procurement practices.
The Council explained:
“We are keen to ensure that all bidders for our works contracts have suitable health and safety measures and policies in place. Equally, we are keen to reduce the burden of tenders on bidders whilst not being overly specific as to which accreditation we will accept. SSIP meets these objectives by covering such a broad range of memberships and certification bodies.”
Supporting Safer and More Efficient Procurement
As organisations continue to seek greater consistency, transparency and efficiency in procurement, Supporter Membership provides a practical way to align with recognised health and safety standards while reducing the administrative burden associated with repeated supplier assessments.
The Chair of SSIP, Eleanor Eaton (CMIOSH, FIIRSM, PGCert), said: “It is fantastic to see such a diverse group of organisations joining SSIP as Supporter Members. Their commitment to improving health and safety, while embracing smarter, more streamlined procurement practices, highlights exactly why SSIP continues to grow as a trusted framework for industry collaboration.”
The addition of these five organisations demonstrates the continuing value of SSIP’s mission: helping buyers and suppliers work together through a common framework that supports safety, competence and smarter procurement.
